Noriko Kawada (川田 典子, Kawada Noriko) is a supporting character of Digimon Adventure 02. She is partner to Punimon.
Appearance[]
Noriko is a young Japanese girl of average height and skinny build with dark brown eyes and hair cut into an ear length bob. She wears a red and yellow bomber jacket with a brown scarf around her neck, an orange pleated skirt, white socks and purple sneakers. When she was first introduced, Noriko wore a medical mask over her mouth due to a cough.
Personality[]
After being implanted with the Dark Spore, Noriko becomes smart like all the other kidnapped children. However, as a result of her Spore being the first to develop at an accelerated rate, Noriko exhibits an arrogant, cold, rude and angry behavior. This is further manifested when she lashes out to her own mother to kicking away a stray cat for licking her shoe. When she's confronted by Ken, Noriko demands why he was following her and that he's an ordinary person without the Dark Spore and thus has no reason to listen to him and finds the idea of friendship a joke. When the Dark Spore begins to sprout from her head, she cries out in pain and terror. When Yukio Oikawa arrives and absorbs the Dark Flower, Noriko is rendered unconscious. Days later, Noriko appears to be an a state of fatigued depression as she's brought to the location where Tai and the others first entered the Digital World.

Noriko is an only child and lives with her parents in Bunkyo. She attends a tutoring school in Shinjuku to improve her school grades, but it is implied that her academic performance is not the best. Noriko is also sick with a mild cough when first introduced. On December 25th, 2002 she comes from the tutoring school with two school friends. She has a cold and is talking to her friends about how difficult the last test was. When she breaks away from her friends for the day, she sees Arukenimon in the form her human woman guise and follows her, hoping she will understand her.
In Invasion of the Daemon Corps,[]
Like the other children, she is taken to Oikawa, who tells her about the Dark Seed and her abilities. She agrees that she wants them and has them planted by Oikawa without paying much attention to the others or even Ken's pleas. Oikawa then implants Noriko with a Dark Seed before moving on with the other children.
In BlackWarGreymon's Destiny,[]
Her performance at school and her health improve greatly over the next few days, but she is getting colder and colder and shouts at her mother about little things. Her progress is the result of the Dark Seed in her body that's rapidly developing than the other children Oikawa kidnapped. This makes Ken want to talk to her. After finally tailing and confronting Noriko, Ken tries to reason with her but she laughs him off, calling him weak for preferring friends and family to knowledge and achievement.
As she storms off, Noriko stops walking and tanks off her scarf as she suddenly she gets hot and feverish. The Dark Seed within her begins to react to the accumulation of darkness in her mind and begins the blooming process. Noriko holds her head and let out a pained wail as the experience is excruciating for her. As she screams in terror and panic, a dark flower sprouts on her head and is absorbed by Oikawa (or Belial Vamdemon), who then throws the girl away like a useless object.

Etymology[]
- The name Noriko means "rule, ceremony" (典) (nori) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Noriko's surname Kawada means "river, stream" (川) (kawa) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).
